THIS TRAINING WILL BE CONDUCTED VIRTUALLY.
The North Carolina Division of Emergency Management Floodplain Management staff will provide virtual training on both the basic roles/duties of a floodplain administrator as well as the regulatory context of the NFIP regulations (to include discussion of the Elevation Certificate), to allow for the safe development in floodplains. The workshops are recommended for new and experienced floodplain managers to review important floodplain management issues and to learn about modifications to the National Flood Insurance Program.
Attendance at the workshops by at least one representative from each community is advised to assure that your community is administering your Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance in compliance with the NFIP standards. Developed and real-life scenarios will be examined, and exercises will be conducted to increase floodplain administrators understanding of the rules and regulations and recognize when and how to apply them. Planners, building inspectors, zoning officials, elected officials, or other interested parties are encouraged to attend.
